EDH/Commander Deck Archetype- Mass Burning God

There is a world in the Magic the Gathering multiverse that goes by the name Theros. Theros is home to many monstrous creatures and brave heroes. With these brave heroes comes powerful gods that watch over them. This young walker is what we are going to study today, one of the powerful gods that gives power and watch over many a hero on Theros. I'm sure you are wondering how many gods there are by now. To answer that, I will tell you for now only five of them will I share with you. Each one by one on different days.

Now let us get on with the show! Purphoros is the god of the Forge. Providing more power to red mages who have more devotion to just red in their faith. Do not anger this god however. Not only is Purphoros a powerful god, but he does have a strong enough following to keep his own army at the up and ready. Here is his army ready and waiting on their god's orders.

Power of a God

As you can see, this is a powerful god of red magic. With hosts of little goblins his army is just relentless. The Door of Destinies allows his timid goblins to grow larger with each one that gets summoned to do battle for his lord. Each time Purphoros sees a creature enter battle on his side, he explodes a victory burst to any opponent facing him. Dealing 2 damage each time as he forges more power to the battle field for his army. Just when you thought a hoard of goblins and an all powerful god was enough there is still more... Two mighty dragons are the surprise hit that Purphoros can summon. The Thundermaw Hellkite along with Stormbreath Dragon are powerful beasts that strike fear in anyone who sees them in battle. 

 

Devotion or Desecration

The other gods we have yet to go over young planeswalker, but you have some insight to one of them. Purphoros is the God of the Forge and can bring great power to you in your time of need. The choice will be yours though young walker. Do you wait to see what the other gods have instore for you?
