EDH/COMMANDER DECK TYPE- A PRICE TO PAY

Welcome young plaineswalker. Have you enjoyed your time away from studding other mages? I hope so, because today we have a new lesson to learn. As we have discovered, there exists numerous combinations for a mage. There’s aggro, combo, control and several others that can be broken down from the major three.

With that recap, I have a new mage for you to study. This mage is a tough control mage who uses white and blue mana to take command of the battle. This mage’s name is Gwafa Hazid, Profiteer.

His specialty is to keep creatures from either attacking or blocking. This allows for him to keep his few attackers free to attack. Access to blue mana lets Gwafa use counter spells, bounce spells and worst of all mill spells.  By now you must be pondering the spell selection Gwafa uses. There is one more thing to know about Gwafa though. He isn’t just a powerful rogue, Gwafa  is also a commander of his own army. Now that you know he is a commander of his own army, it must be a puzzle attempting to figure out his style.

Bribed in Battle.

This is the battle style that Gwafa uses. He enjoys controlling everything that could happen in battle. By keeping up his defense, Gwafa just simply grinds his foes away. Slowly his foes will be out of spells and have no way to do combat. One of his favorite creatures to summon though is the Swans of Bryn Argoll. The swans provide a great defense for him and at the same time the help Gwafa mill who ever attacks him.

A Price Paid?

As you can gather from his spell list, Gwafa enjoys milling others more than anything.  It just swells his controlling mage with joy watching his opponents squirm with each spell sent to the grave. His mill based strategy does allow him to take on more than one foe at a time. There are plenty of ways to battle against Gwafa and bring him to his knees. Normally I suggest a few ways you could do battle against these mages, but not this time. Young walker it is up to you to decide how you shall face Gwafa. Will you be aggressive and hit him hard? Would you be so bold to test your skill in out controlling him in battle??
